Dr Tay received her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2004 from University of Malaya, Malaysia. She spent her first year of work attached to various departments including Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Paedodontics, Orthodontics and Restorative. She continued as a general dental practitioner in community dentistry for 4 years and passed the MFDS examination by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2008.

Subsequently she was awarded a scholarship to pursue a 3-year Master of Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) in Periodontology at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute, UK.  In 2011, she completed her master’s degree with distinction and at the same time, she obtained the accreditation by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) for her training. Following that Dr Tay practices in periodontics and implant therapy and now divides her time between private practice and teaching. She holds the position of Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow in Periodontology at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute CPD.
